The annual Summer Party is a one day affair to celebrate employees and their families. It takes place in several cities across the globe, though none is so large in scale or ambitious in activities as New York's, where Bloomberg is headquartered.
The 2008 event—which saw over 12,000 people and took eight months of planning—included over 35 individually themed activity and food stations on Randall's Island.
As lead event planner, I oversaw each step in the concept and planning process, while working across internal teams and production crews. The result was an unforgettable day of carnival rides, quirky field games, salsa dancing, magic shows, live band karaoke, aerial acrobatics, roller skating, cookie baking, classic cars, flame throwing, and more. The day culminated in an epic pyrotechnics dance-a-thon at dusk.
